Dillon Falls Engagement Session
Engagement sessions are always special, but my most recent shoot felt like a particularly magical experience. From the moment Reilly and Jacob stepped in front of the camera, it was clear that their connection was something extraordinary, and capturing that essence was both an honor and a joy. And we had FUN! The evening was all about laughs and dancing…and getting devoured by mosquitoes. Worth it.
Choosing the right location can set the tone for an entire session. For this shoot, we opted for one of my favorite spots, the meadow and river at Dillon Falls in Bend, OR. We could not have asked for a more perfect evening for an engagement photo session. There was just enough soft cloud cover moving through the sky to offer that soft glowy light we’re always after, and because this spot was special to the couple, they felt right at home.
One of the highlights of this session was the couple’s ability to be themselves in front of my camera. I love to create little playlists while we shoot engagement photos, and they loved it! Reilly and Jacob laughed, danced, and got into the moment with songs they loved, and because of that, the true version of themselves came shining through in their photos. These genuine moments are the heart of an engagement session, and they resulted in photos that were not only beautiful but also deeply meaningful.
Jacob had a stunning ring made for Reilly and so we definitely wanted to showcase it! While the two happy kids danced and giggled, I snapped away at the little details like that gorgeous ring. Getting those details during an engagement photography session is so important!
We had a blast together all evening long. Reflecting on this engagement session reminds me why I love what I do. It’s not just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing the true essence of the couple. These two are funny and clearly love to be playful and laugh together. It was a joy to witness. Hopefully, they feel these images serve to preserve this special moment and create a visual narrative that they will cherish forever. Each session is unique, and this one was a beautiful reminder of the power of love and the joy of photography.
If you’re planning an engagement session, remember that the most important thing is to be yourselves. The best photos come from genuine moments and authentic connections. Here’s to many more sessions filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories!
